Valentine's Day Rice Krispies

Valentine's Day Rice Krispies

I have a friend who, when we used to work together, would always get herself a rice krispie treat. It was kinda her thing. So now, anytime I make them, I always think of her. Considering that February came out of nowhere (I hope I'm not the only one who feels that way) and Valentine's day is around the corner, I made a thematic batch.

Kitty Macarons

As most of you know, I have a cat and, over the years, I've essentially became a crazy cat lady. Although I still don't have all cat everything...yet, my eyes caught this recipe and I became obsessed. I had to make it.

Bûche de Noël

Couple of years ago, I stumbled on this picture and I was like, one year, I have to make it. So I did, last year, from scratch. It took me 3 days! 3! Why? Because I wanted to make everything from scratch and see how long it takes. On top of it all, it heavy AF! We're talking about 5 lbs or so.

Pretzel Dogs

With Super Bowl just around the corner, I decided to try out these pretzel dogs. I used this recipe, waited for over an hour for the dough to rise, but my-oh-my, these were delicious!

Galette des Rois

Galette des Rois

I'm a little late to the party but everywhere in France in January people celebrate the festival of Epiphany. Galette des Rois means "Kings Cake" and the name is derived from the biblical three kings. When the cake is baked, a trinket or a bean is placed inside and whoever gets it, gets to be the king for the day.

Unusual Pairings

Cote de Rhone and Dumplings

Working in a restaurant in NYC is something like being thrown with a bunch of felons, perverts and "others", none of which generally doesn't shock. So what if you have issues? Don't we all. And honestly, I don't really care if you were locked up for gun and drug possession with intent to sell. As long as you make me a delicious sandwich, get me a beer and don't get in trouble, we're cool. And when the restaurant goes under or migration happens, those new found friendships tend to travel from restaurant to restaurant.

Bourbon Spiked Pumpkin Cocktail

The first time I tried this Bourbon Spiced Pumpkin, the person who came up with the concept told me that he wanted to name it "The Basic." Personally, I was quite disappointed that he didn't go along with it.

Clementine Cream Cake

Once in a lifetime you meet a friend and that friend was Elise for me. We met about a year ago at this crappy (I mean VERY shitty) firm and became instant friends. We came up with this ritual called Friday night / Drunk kitchen and it all started with us getting drunk and me teaching Elise to cook all things American.

Smoked Gouda and Spinach Quiche

Smoked Gouda and Spinach Quiche

I love eggs and I literally can eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner and not be tired of it. I have to have eggs for breakfast or otherwise I go berserk. Even my man makes fun of me saying that I'm a creature of habit. That I am.

Candy Corn Cookies

I'm not a fan of candy corn, but I do love me some shortbread cookies. I found this recipe and whipped up some delicious goodies for the roomies. I made a mistake of rolling out the dough too thin, but the end result was still sooooo good.

Apple Hand Pies

Apple Hand Pie

You know those hand pies you get at McDonald's for $1? It's full of sugar, you don't know where the apples came from but it's so damn delicious! I haven't had one since high school, mostly because I try to steer away from chemically mass produced foods. BUT the craving is still there, ya know?

Roasted Pumpkin Soup

I was never really a fan of anything pumpkin, aside from candles and occasional PSL, but the older I got, the more I began to appreciate veggies. Like real food, you know? Also, I realized that it is incredibly easy to a) roast a pumpkin and b) make roasted pumpkin soup.

Raspberry Cheesecake

Raspberry Cheesecake

When I first heard of a cheesecake, my first thought was "A cake made out of cheese? Why would anyone want to eat it?" But then I tried it, and oh my! I was forever changed. I tried this recipe, but I gotta admit, most cheesecakes are a tad dense for my liking.
