Galette des Rois

January 18, 2016 Aika Danayeva
Galette des Rois

I'm a little late to the party but everywhere in France in January people celebrate the festival of Epiphany. Galette des Rois means "Kings Cake" and the name is derived from the biblical three kings. When the cake is baked, a trinket or a bean is placed inside and whoever gets it, gets to be the king for the day.

I used this recipe and made the fatal mistake of not having my dough cold. When the cake came out, it was not a looker. But it tasted amazing. Like reeeeeal good. It was flaky, buttery and almondy. What can I say other than, Vive le Roi!
