Two Thousand and Seventeen

December 31, 2017 Aika Danayeva

Oh what a year, you guys! I see now that I didn't do a year in review of 2016, but that year (and I'm sure that everyone can back me up on this) was shit.

Jill Stewart from Rent the Runway. Shoes: Sam Edelman. Clutch: Vintage.

30 things I learned doing pretty questionable things:

  1. Age is relative, once you're over the hill, you pick up speed
  2. If you take a shower, people will think you got a haircut
  3. Sometimes the craziest thing you could do is nothing
  4. It's worth spending money on good food
  5. Also travel
  6. Also, really good skin care
  7. Cats are weird
  8. Hard work pays off, but having a rich daddy makes it easier to achieve things. So most of us are fucked
  9. No is a full sentence, use it often to keep your sanity
  10. An unaimed arrow never misses, now and then, it's nice not to have plans
  11. Stress cleaning is a thing
  12. Working out does help your depression and anxiety, but not always
  13. Alcohol doesn't solve all your problems
  14. Law school was a sham
  15. You don't have to run to do cardio
  16. Listen to your mother's wisdom, but you don't necessarily need to heed her advise
  17. Also, text your mother but never teach her how to use emojis ... or Instagram
  18. Sometimes you're just not right
  19. Trying new things/activities/foods, occasionally doesn't work out, but at least you made an effort.
  20. Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself!
  21. Morning poops are awesome
  22. Learn languages, being a polyglot is pretty dope #humblebrag
  23. Working in the restaurant business was one of the best and the worst but the friends I made are bomb dot com
  24. Binging on GoT is the best
  25. Throwing away uncomfortable shoes is worth it
  26. Bras are boob prisons
  27. Surround yourself with better company
  28. Life's too short to give a fuck about what people think
  29. Always be yourself, but never be an asshole, unless you have to
  30. To be learned...I just turned 30, Sheesh!

Two Thousand and Fifteen

Chateau de Nice

Well, Ladies and Gentlemen, 2015 is coming to a close. I know I've been saying it quite a bit in the last couple of days but most tend to reflect back on the year they had and reminisce. I wasn't quite sure how I'd like to look back, but then I tried to remember what happened each month since January. Not the entire month, just highlights of each and it's been pretty damn awesome. So here are my highlights of two thousand and fifteen:

Office In-Appropriate

December 6, 2015 Aika Danayeva

When you're trying to make it in NYC, chances are that you're working 2 jobs, if not 3. The problem with having 2 jobs that are complete polar opposites of each other (one in the food and beverage industry, the other's in a law office), besides the obvious lack of time to do anything, is that you have to look office appropriate during the day then like a high end prostitute at night. ...

How Do You Like Your Pizza?

Warwick Winery Pizza

Pizza is fantastic. It's delicious, not really nutritious but it hits the spot. In restaurant world, unless you're working at an actual pizzeria, pizza can have a different meaning. ...
